Housekeeping Inspector

Principal Responsibilities:

Responsible for inspecting guest rooms/suites and public areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with hotel standards. Supports housekeeping operations by ensuring quality control and readiness of rooms for guest occupancy.


Essential Functions:

 

  • Conduct thorough, daily inspections of check-out and stay-over rooms to meet cleanliness, presentation and maintenance standards. Assists in prioritizing room inspections based on occupancy and operational needs.
  • Identify, report, and follow up on repair issues (plumbing, fixtures, electrical) to Engineering/Maintenance.
  • Ensure all linens, furniture, supplies, and room amenities are set up, replenished, and arranged.
  • Update the property management system (PMS) with current room statuses (e.g., changing "dirty" to "clean/inspected"). Ensure rooms are properly marked as clean and available only after inspection approval.
  • Train, mentor, and coach room attendants to maintain an acceptable level of quality standards; assist with cleaning or cleaning carts when necessary.
  • Respond to guest requests or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Adhere to all safety, security, and sanitation regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Monitor the stock of cleaning supplies and guest amenities on carts and in housekeeping closets.
  • Conduct spot checks of public areas and storage spaces to ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Coordinates with housekeeping staff to address re-cleans or deficiencies in a timely manner.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

 

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company.


  • Attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Report all suspicious people or activities, hazardous conditions, etc. to Safety/Security Department.
  • Provide customer service to guests, including information about hotel services, activities and local attractions.
  • Provide public assistance, instruction and/or guidance for guests and employee safety in the event of an emergency.
  • Assist fellow team members as requested.


OTHER DUTIES

 

Assimilate into the Packard culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of corporate policies. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.


Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Packard from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varied schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS 

 

OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health of safety:


  • Latex and/or rubber gloves
  • Closed toe and low-heeled shoes with rubber soles
  • Safety belt
  • Safety glasses

 

Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. The hotel provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

 

  • Ability to arrive at work on time and when scheduled
  • Physically able to move large objects such as carts, large bags of linen, ironing board
  • Physically able to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, brooms, spray bottles
  • Ability to read and recognize room/suite numbers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and other team members verbally and in written form
  • Ability to understand and follow directions, and perform job functions with limited supervision
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures and standards and ability to recognize and act in emergency situations

 

QUALIFYING STANDARDS

 

Education


High School graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.


Experience


3 years of cleaning experience in housekeeping, preferably as an inspector.


Licenses or Certificates

 

CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred. 

 

Grooming

 

All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).


Other


Bi-lingual language ability (English/Spanish) preferred.
