Associate Analyst, Port Operations

The Associate Analyst, Port Operations is responsible for enterprise‑level port
cost governance, financial accuracy, and performance optimization across
assigned port operations . The role goes beyond transactional invoice processing
by supporting the analysis of complex global port-related costs, reviewing
tariff structures, and assisting with forecasting activities. The Associate
Analyst helps identify discrepancies and ensures cost data is accurate and
aligned with established internal policies and reporting guidelines. This
position supports operational decision-making related to port activities, cost
management, and compliance by ensuring the accuracy and consistency of
port-related financial information.

Responsibilities

* Analyzes port cost variances, contracted rates and tariff changes, and
billing discrepancies to identify and resolve issues. Reviews port-related
fees, taxes, and charges to help ensure accuracy and flag potential
overbilling, accrual gaps, or compliance concerns. Provides regular insights
on cost trends to support team decision-making and cost tracking.

* Supports port cost data accuracy within MXP and related finance systems by
reviewing transactions and validating accrual inputs. Helps ensure data is
complete and accurate for financial reporting and forecasting.

* Supports internal and external audits by gathering and validating port cost
data and ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate.

* Monitor accuracy of internal and external financial controls and reporting
for management, serving as lead administration support for Mexican Regional
Taxes and Expenses, e.g., Mexican Federal Immigration Tax ($40M Annually).

* Serves as an analytical liaison between Port Operations, Finance, Legal,
Compliance, and external authorities (e.g., port agents, port authorities and
government agencies both domestic & international ). Supports the
interpretation and implementation of regulatory and tariff changes affecting
port costs across multiple global regions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

* Proficient in Microsoft suite, Port Cost Management Model Marine Exchange
Program (MXP), Oracle, Mark View , Expert Working knowledge of Excel to
calculate advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, and VLookup.

  • Excellent Written & Verbal Communication Skills

* Must be detail-oriented and possess great communication, planning,
organizational, and critical thinking skills. Must be able to multitask and
work in a fast-paced high demand environment. Excellent interpersonal skills
in order to effectively interface with all levels of personnel throughout the
organization and with external agents

* 3+ Years Port Operations experience and/or with 2+ years of progressive
experience in Finance, Accounting, or other analytical position

  • Cruise Industry or Marine Industry Preferred

* This position is classified as “in-office.”  As an in-office role, it
requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida
Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their home on
Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the
Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.

Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of
hours they work, with a minimum of 84 hours/year.  All employees gain
additional vacation time with further tenure. 

* Sick Time – All full-time employees receive 80 hours of sick time each
year.  Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the
number of hours they work, with a minimum of 60 hours each year.
