Position Purpose

The Assistant D.U.G. Manager supports the daily operation of the Drive Up & Go Department by helping lead associates, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining operational standards, and achieving department performance goals. This position assists with order fulfillment, staff development, scheduling, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction while supporting a safe and efficient e-commerce environment.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Assist in overseeing daily Drive Up & Go operations.
  • Ensure online orders are accurately picked, packed, staged, and delivered within established service standards.
  • Monitor workflow and staffing levels to meet customer demand and productivity goals.
  • Support department procedures that promote efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Ensure department equipment, handheld devices, and work areas are maintained and functioning properly.
Customer Service
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through prompt, professional interactions.
  • Resolve customer concerns related to online orders, substitutions, and pickups.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and implement improvements when necessary.
  • Ensure orders meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Promote a positive and convenient shopping experience that supports customer loyalty.
Team Leadership
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding new associates.
  • Provide coaching, direction, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Help create work schedules that align staffing with business needs.
  • Support a collaborative work environment focused on accountability and teamwork.
  • Lead department operations in the manager's absence.
Sales and Performance Management
  • Support achievement of department sales, productivity, and service goals.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with labor management and scheduling efficiency.
  • Support initiatives that drive online order growth and customer retention.
  • Help maintain accuracy standards to minimize refunds, complaints, and operational errors.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Promote safe work practices throughout the department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of customer information.
  • Ensure accurate handling of products, substitutions, and order fulfillment processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail, customer service, or grocery operations experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.
  • Experience with online order fulfillment, e-commerce, or Drive Up & Go operations.
  • Knowledge of grocery store operations and inventory processes.

  • Perform repetitive motions related to shopping and order preparation.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced retail grocery environment.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, associates, and delivery partners.
  • Exposure to refrigerated, frozen, and outdoor conditions.
  • Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
