About this role

Position Summary:

The Barback is responsible for supporting the Restaurant operations by ensuring bartenders have all necessary supplies and equipment to provide efficient and high-quality service to guests. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. The Barback plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for our guests at the Baia Beach Club.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain adequate stock levels of all bar items, including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, and glassware, at the pool bar stations.
  • Retrieve and transport stock from storage areas to the bar, ensuring proper rotation and minimizing waste.
  • Assist with regular inventory counts and report shortages or discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Prepare and cut garnishes (lemons, limes, cherries, etc.) as needed throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all beverage stations, including refrigerators, ice bins, and storage areas, are clean and organized.
  • Set up and break down bar areas, including transporting necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Continuously monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the bar area, including wiping down surfaces, sweeping/mopping floors, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Clean and polish glassware, bar tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Report any maintenance issues or broken equipment to management promptly.
  • Assist bartenders with preparing drinks during peak hours if necessary, under direct supervision.
  • Handle and transport heavy items such as kegs and cases of beverages.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting guests with non-beverage related inquiries or directing them to appropriate staff.
  • Anticipate bar needs and proactively replenish supplies to prevent service interruptions.
  • Ensure efficient flow of product from storage to service areas.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a barback or in a similar support role in a high-volume F&B environment, preferably in a hotel or resort setting.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of bar operations, common beverages, and glassware is preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, humidity).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and guests.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often on hot surfaces.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) frequently.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to handle bar tools and glassware safely.
